A Link from page A to page B will cause
|

|
Page B to rise in the Search Results for the term in the link. |

Spiders or Bots ride links to your website.
The term in the link the Spider is riding will be passed onto the destination page. The more accurate the Hypertext in the link is to the destination page's content, the more of the power in the link the Spider is riding will be passed onto the destination page.
The more varied the C Classes the links to a page are coming from the better, as they show the site is more popular in theory. It also helps the Search Engines cut out a lot of the links controlled by 1 webmaster.
As with any good diet, variety is the spice of life and if you only ate 1 type of food, it is not good for your body over the long term and will have negative affects. Linking is the same.
You do not want to have all of your links saying exactly the same thing, as that will hurt how your page ranks. This is referring to what is called a back link profile and while you do want most of your inbound links to have your main term in them, having 100% of them say the same thing is not natural and will have negative effects on your page as well as your site if you have more than 1 page on the domain.
Think of the red flag and a bull, it just gets the bull mad, same thing with a 100% back link profile. It is a footprint and you are just asking for trouble.
