Welcome to Lost in Hyperspace
Building a website is like any endeavor, it takes a plan and some skill. After that you will want some interested people to visit your website. And no, Mum and Grandma don't really count.
So when we are talking about interested people we are talking about people who are interested in your websites content, services or software whichever the case may be.
There are two main types of traffic you can get on the internet.
1. Organic Traffic 2. Paid Traffic
Organic Traffic for a simple definition is any visitor that arrives at your website from a link somewhere on the internet that you did not have to pay for.
Paid Traffic on the other hand is traffic that arrived at your site from a paid source. Be that an ad you are running on someone else's website or through one of the main Search Engines.
There are also traffic exchange programs as well as companies that will do all of the work for you when it comes to promoting your website and getting traffic to it.
There is no real BEST WAY as some people have great success from Organic traffic while others only know how to get traffic by paying for it and have great success that way.
The decision is totally yours. Yet if you are an affiliate for other companies you must abide by those companies Rules and TOS for generating traffic to your site, otherwise they may cancel the contract between you and them if you breach your end of the agreement.
I will be looking at Organic traffic and primarily Search Engines specifically seeing as they will be your best source of organic traffic.
Starting with the Basics.
